Well, we are finally onto a new year with bigger & better (hopefully) things! This past year revealed to many homeowners that their current home design wasn't necessarily "pandemic proof." Based on all of the lessons that we learned in 2020, the common design of homes will change for those who are spending more time there. In addition to the pandemic, home design trends frequently change and it s important to keep up.

So with that being said...

Here are the most expected home design trends of 2021 -

1. Home Office

This probably comes as no surprise to you, but we will start to see man more home offices in 2021. Since more people are working from home, the desire to have separate workspace in your own home has become more of a necessity.

If you are thinking about remodeling your home anytime soon, I highly suggest that you consider adding separate workspace. This does not have to be a whole room.

2. Separated Floor Plans

This is not as scary as it sounds! As much as we all loved the open floor plan concept, some change could help the design of future renovations. People are wanting slight separation in their homes to justify the separation of useful space.

Multigenerational families are also a huge market that is requiring more separated space for privacy.

3. Wood Grain Kitchen Cabinets & Countertops

Brown is making its way back into our homes in the best way possible. Natural wood grain wood is going to be a huge trend this year. In addition to wood grain cabinets, we are also going to start seeing more wood grain countertops. Yes, I said countertops!

I remodeled a home personally with wood grain cabinets and I am so excited to share the finished project with you guys!

4. Wild & Textured Walls

This trend started to make its way into homes again towards the end of last year. This allows the room to create texture and dimension before furniture is even placed in the room. In addition to walls, the ceiling is a great place to add texture & create dimension.

This offers the homeowner an option to use less furniture, which ultimately leads to less clutter & less money spent on furniture or décor.

5. Subtle & Neutral Kitchen Backsplash

Since kitchen are starting to lean towards warm & neutral colors, its only right that the backsplash design is minimal. Subtle tile can still make a huge statement in a kitchen. The simple tile only allows the cabinets and oven hood to be the main star of the show.

My absolute favorite tile backsplash right now is white squares. Not subway tile, just squares. In no unique pattern at all, just stacked on top of each other. Crazy, right?!
